The Hawk Engine is a high thrust; low efficiency engine, which is normally used in the first stage of a rocket. It's the first stage counterpart to the Valiant Engine, and the smaller version of the Titan Engine. The engine burns 5 tons of liquid fuel in 7.5 seconds. On Earth, it can lift up to 120 tons.
This engine is usually used on the first stage of medium rockets, but is occasionally used on the second stage of larger rockets.
History[]
The Hawk Engine, previously named RB-48 Liquid Fuel Engine, was the one of the first two engines in Spaceflight Simulator, the other one being the Valiant Engine.
Trivia[]
- This engine likely burns kerolox (kerosene and liquid oxygen), because kerolox powered engines give off an opaque plume.
- The engine is likely based off of the real life Merlin 1D or the RS-25 SSME engine.
- In blueprint files, this part's name is
Engine_Hawk
.
